The details of this Michigan nautical inspired wedding were so gorgeous. Lona is actually a graphic designer, so she
designed all of her invitations and signs at the reception! Her veil (that I’m totally obsessed with) was actually hand-
made by a friend, and just wait until you see her flowers. About five minutes before the first look, it started down-
pouring, but that didn’t stop Lona and Stephen! With lots of help from her bridesmaids and with countless of
umbrellas we made the first look happen, and it was so cute! You will never believe where we had to take our bridal
party shots, and bride and groom portraits while it was raining… the awning of a dentist office. I’m not even kidding!
We were trying to find parking, and we stumbled across this dentist office that was in an old historical house, and it
made the perfect backdrop and coverage from the rain. Thankfully, the weather cleared and we were able to take
the remainder of the portraits without finding cover haha. We even had sunset, so we could grab sunset pictures
during the reception.
If you remember Lona and Stephen from their engagement pictures (see here), you found out that Lona and I
ended up being related! We both had no idea that we were related when she first reached out to me about me
shooting her wedding (crazyyy small word, right?!). It made it even more special that I was photographing my
cousin’s wedding, and I had the opportunity to meet more relatives! I’m so blessed to have not only met my cousin,
but also gain a new friendship. Lona and Stephen, I wish you two all the best, and I’m so so glad our paths crossed.
